The Bank & Baron Pub, reclaimed within The Bank of Nova Scotia is recognized among one of Alberta's most historical structures located in the heart of Calgary's infamous Stephen Avenue since 1930. This lively and vibrant avenue we know it as today was named after George Stephen, the 1st Baron Mount Stephen. He was the financial genius behind the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the President of the Bank of Montreal and is remembered as one of the greatest philanthropists of his time. In honor of the significant history Baron Mount Stephen imparted into the fostering of Calgary's culture (1930 - present), we have brewed The Bank & Baron P.U.B.

Crafting any event from a momentous occasion to an exquisite celebration can be effortlessly drafted.

With 26 rotating beers on tap, a variety of menu items, and a beautiful historical building, there is something for everyone at The Bank and Baron Pub.

Klein:Harris

Get Directions

KLEIN / HARRIS is an independent restaurant concept, inspired from the diverse bounty that Canada has to offer. Located in downtown Calgary on Stephen Avenue, KLEIN / HARRIS highlights the stories of passionate Canadian producers with the use of exceptional products and ingredients. Working with a long list of national heroes that make True North Cuisine possible, Executive Chef James Waters focuses on distinct coast-to-coast Canadiana dishes; a culinary journey that begins in the West to eventually end on the East Coast, highlighting ingredients like wild seasonal mushrooms from British Columbia and fresh notable oysters from The Maritimes.

Partner and cocktail curator Christina Mah offers an elevated libation program that features both tried and true Canadian creations like the Tiki Horse made with distilled Alberta Dark Horse Whiskey & B.C. Rootbeer Bittered Sling Extracts alongside venerable classics like The Vancouver circa 1950. Both partners take an honest and humble approach to what they do best, fuelled by a shared passion for what authentic Canadian ingredients and techniques have to offer.

Last Best

Get Directions

It’s our privilege to be the community liaison for beer and beer culture and we don’t take this role lightly. The beers we make are a direct reflection of the values and personalities of you –our customers and our community.

Our beers are fresh and delicious because we make them using the best ingredients for everything we produce. Which isn’t hard here in Alberta. We are literally surrounded by a sea of barley, making (in our opinion) Calgary the ‘Last Best’ opportunity for the craft brewing industry and brewers like us.

In fact, ‘Last Best’ goes all the way back to the turn of the 20th century when the Canadian government launched ‘The Last Best West’ campaign, calling Calgary the last best chance in the modern world for homesteaders to lay roots and shape their futures.

We think the accomplishments resulting from the first ‘Last Best’ initiative have paved the way for the budding craft beer and distilling industries here in Alberta.

We honour this historical spirit through our name and our unwavering commitment to making delicious well-crafted beer.

We’re the fourth location in the Bearhill Brewing Family of Breweries. Check out our other locations at bearhillbrewingco.ca

When Alberta’s first oilfield sprang up along Sheep Creek in southwestern Alberta, oil patch communities “growed like topsy.” Since then Calgary has been a boom and bust city but has always conserved a romantically, nostalgic element of its late 1800’s/ early 1900’s, western charm. The Derrick looks to preserve that humble perception by creating a sanctuary for Calgary’s everyday oil-man and corporate community. A place to escape the daily hustle of the office and enjoy a well made drink and hearty food.
